The Charleston Battery have signed a naming rights deal with MUSC Health through to the end of the decade for naming rights to their stadium. The venue formerly known as Blackbaud Stadium, which sits adjacent to the Headquarters of the software company that was founded by club owner, Tony Bakker, will now be called MUSC Health Stadium under the new agreement, which takes effect immediately.

MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) was founded in 1824, and has been the Battery’s Sports Medicine partner since 2008.

Of note, the stadium is the first privately financed Soccer specific stadium in the United States, opening in 1999, and has hosted the U.S. Women’s National Team, International Friendly matches between the Battery and several English and Mexican sides – most recently West Brom in July, the U.S. National Rugby team, as well as an annual music festival.

MUSC Health Stadium will officially be christened on Saturday, August 1st, when the Battery face FC Montreal.
